Filtering your water every day often means choosing between two extremes: the "comfort" carafe on one side, the technical and bulky system on the other.
The Pure Filters Classic Tap was designed to move beyond this compromise.
It's an under-sink filtration kit selected and configured by Pure Filters to provide broad-spectrum purification directly at the tap. It combines a TRES 2-way mixer tap (mains water + filtered water), manufactured in Spain, with a Coldstream CTO MAX ceramic and activated carbon cartridge (KLT Filtration, United Kingdom), whose performance is documented by independent laboratory tests under NSF/ANSI protocols (for tested contaminants). The filtered water circuit is separate and fed only with cold water, eliminating any constraints related to hot water and ensuring simple, reliable and durable use — without electricity or a tank.
Why this concept is different
Filtering mixer taps already exist. The difference lies in what they actually aim to do. Many market solutions are primarily comfort-oriented: taste improvement, chlorine reduction, sometimes scale/mineralisation management, and highly aesthetic kitchen integration. This is useful, but it's not the same category of treatment. The Pure Filters Classic Tap targets a "purification" approach, with a purifier-grade cartridge, structured test data, a carefully configured usage setup and a filtered circuit designed for error-free daily use.
The three pillars of the Pure Filters Classic Tap
1. Coldstream CTO MAX filtration technology
The CTO MAX cartridge is a combination of high-density ceramic and compact activated carbon. It is designed to treat a broad spectrum of contaminants, for tested contaminants and under laboratory conditions. The reduction families include notably:
- Fine particles, including microplastics (class 1)
- Micro-organisms: bacteria, viruses and cysts (per protocols and tested contaminants)
- Heavy metals (e.g. lead, and other metals per data tables)
- Chlorine and chloramines (chlorine taste and odour)
- Chlorination by-products (THMs and HAAs, for tested contaminants)
- Pesticides and herbicides
- PFAS (for tested contaminants)
- Pharmaceutical residues and hormones (for tested contaminants)
Important: we maintain clean and defensible communication. Tests are conducted in a laboratory, under standardised conditions. Real-world performance may vary depending on water quality, flow rate and usage. The kit is not sold as an NSF or IAPMO certified product.
2. A premium TRES mixer tap, genuinely designed for kitchen use
TRES is not a default choice. It is a premium European manufacturer, recognised for the quality of finishes, component durability and rigorous technical documentation. For the Pure Filters Classic Tap, the mixer tap is a true 2-way kitchen tap designed for daily use.
What this means for the customer:
- A robust, pleasant, durable tap
- Intuitive use: mains water and filtered water clearly separated
- Clean kitchen integration (no additional small tap)
3. The key point often overlooked: filtered water runs on cold water only.
This is a technical detail, but a huge advantage in real use. The filtered water circuit is separate and fed exclusively with cold water via a dedicated bypass. In practice: hot water stays on the mains circuit and hot water never passes through the cartridge. Result: no more "being careful" about hot water to protect the filter. Use becomes natural and error-free.
We made a deliberately clear configuration choice:
- Recommended capacity: 5,000 L per cartridge
- Recommended replacement: every 6 months
Why 6 months? Because in real life, it's not just about litres: water quality, temperature, usage and the stability of activated carbon all matter. A simple rule is what ensures a reliable experience.
Technical note
The Pure Filters Classic Tap requires installation by a qualified plumber to ensure compliant, leak-free assembly.
- Turn off the water supply and release pressure.
- Install the mixer tap on the sink/worktop, then connect the G3/8 flexible hoses.
- Install the bypass on the cold water inlet: only cold water is sent to the filter housing and the mixer tap's filtered water circuit. Hot water remains on the mains circuit.
- Install the under-sink filter housing on the cold water inlet dedicated to filtered water, then connect the filtered outlet to the mixer tap's filtered water circuit. The filter housing tightens by hand. The supplied key is only for loosening.
- Check for leaks, restore water supply.
- First use: run filtered water for 5 minutes (a slight carbon residue at the start is normal).
Sealing recommendation
For the T-connector, we recommend using a Loctite 55-type sealant cord rather than PTFE tape. It allows you to adjust the orientation of the connector without losing the seal and reduces the risk of PTFE tape tearing.
Who is the Pure Filters Classic Tap for?
Families who want a "no-compromise" solution:
- Filtered water at the tap for drinking and cooking
- Simple use, no daily manipulation
- No electricity, no tank
Those who want a higher level of purification than "comfort" filters. If your goal goes beyond simple taste/chlorine improvement, this type of cartridge and test documentation is more relevant.
Premium kitchens, renovated homes, quality-conscious customers. The TRES mixer tap, the finish, the user experience and the kitchen integration are at the level expected from a premium product.
People who want a clear, easy-to-explain, easy-to-maintain solution. 5,000 L / 6 months, dedicated cold-water filtered circuit: it's simple to understand and simple to apply.
Why we decided to launch this product now
Pure Filters is not trying to "rebrand" a tap. Our role is to architect a coherent solution: choose the right partners, set a careful usage configuration, and provide readable technical information. Our concrete added value: a documented filtration technology selection, a coherent and reliable kit configuration (recommended capacity, maintenance, safe messaging), availability of consumables, support and a distribution network, and a transparent approach to component origins (TRES Spain, Coldstream/KLT United Kingdom).
Does the Pure Filters Classic Tap replace reverse osmosis?
No. It's not the same principle. Reverse osmosis treats dissolved salts and generally requires water waste and a more complex installation. The Pure Filters Classic Tap targets broad-spectrum purification at the tap, without electricity, without a tank and with simple maintenance.
Does the Pure Filters Classic Tap work with hot water?
The filtered circuit is designed for cold water only. This is actually an advantage: hot water never passes through the cartridge and stays on the mains water circuit.
Are all listed contaminants present in my water?
No. The lists correspond to contaminants tested in the laboratory under standardised protocols. Your water may only contain some of these substances.
How often should I change the filter?
Recommended replacement every 6 months, recommended capacity 5,000 L. The goal is to ensure stable performance and a simple maintenance rule.
Note about TRES: TRES is a long-established European manufacturer (founded in 1968), based in Vallirana near Barcelona, with industrialised production and complete technical documentation. Their approach emphasises durability, finishes and compliance of water-contact materials with applicable standards. We visited the TRES factory and it's a genuine industrial operation, not an opportunistic assembly. That level of manufacturing is precisely what we wanted for the Pure Filters Classic Tap.
