Why does my water still contain limescale?

Are you still seeing limescale after filtration and wondering whether your Pure Filter system really works? Rest assured: in most cases, this is normal.

Does my system really work?

Yes. The presence of limescale does not necessarily mean that your system is not working or that you have been misled.

Coldstream FTO+ filters are designed to reduce many contaminants, impurities and undesirable substances present in water. However, depending on the composition of the water in your area, some of the minerals responsible for limescale may remain present.

Why do I still see limescale?

Limescale is mainly composed of minerals naturally present in water, such as calcium and magnesium.

In some areas where the water is particularly hard, it is possible to still see traces of limescale after filtration. This can vary greatly depending on your region and the quality of your tap water.

Does this mean the filter isn't working?

No. A Pure Filter system can continue to effectively filter many impurities and contaminants even if some limescale remains visible.

If your system filters normally, the flow is correct and the filters are correctly installed, your system is generally working as intended.
